Award winning Producer Greg
Thompson uses Marilyn’s own words to create an emotionally charged
script that allows actress Sunny Thompson to re-ignite Marilyn’s flame
and breathe life back into the woman and the Immortal Goddess.
The play is based on one of
Marilyn’s last studio shoots. It’s 1962 and as the photographer works,
Marilyn begins to truly reveal herself to the camera. An intimate one
sided conversation develops as Monroe explores and reflects on her
life and her innermost secrets and desires.
During the two hour show
Sunny sings many of the songs that helped to make Marilyn the iconic
star that she became. Song’s like “Diamond’s Are a Girl’s Best Friend”
and a personal favourite of mine “My Heart Belongs to Daddy”
I first heard about this
production in 2007 and was hoping to see Sunny perform in L.A. but
unfortunately it wasn’t to be – since it first began the show has gone
from strength to strength winning a vast amount of awards along the
way. Many of my ‘Marilyn friends’ have been lucky enough to see the
play and have come back with nothing but praise for the show and
Sunny’s performance as Marilyn and believe me – these are dedicated
Marilyn fans who are, in all truth the hardest theatre goers to
please, yet without exception everyone has reported back on how
amazing and wonderful the show is, adding that it’s a show not to be
missed!
At last we are able to see
for ourselves in U.K. as Marilyn Forever Blonde
