Are you a non professional Marilyn Monroe'alike?

Do friends and family say you look like Marilyn?  Have you ever been stopped in the street and told you look just like Marilyn Monroe? Do you like to dress like Marilyn because you love her style? or do you just like to do the whole 'Marilyn thing' just for fun?

If you've answered 'yes' to any of those questions we would love to see your photo and hear all about you! Please send your photo and some information about yourself to shar@lovingmarilyn.com

I can't deny that whilst unfortunately I don't resemble Marilyn in any way shape or form! I have always adored her style and am definitely a closet Monroe'alike!

Loving Marilyn has a new Marilyn Girl!

This is one of my most favourite sections of Loving Marilyn - I am always so excited when I receive emails from Monroe'alikes! It heartens me to know there are so many beautiful women who find inspiration in Marilyn's style today - what woman in history has such an effect on fashion and style through so many decades - and each decade the look continues to appear fresh and new!

Our newest Marilyn girl is the lovely Deborah from the Netherlands!

Deborah has a particular love for Norma Jeane's style and beauty and is hoping to turn her passion for Norma Jeane into a career as a look-alike. Loving Marilyn wishes her well on her chosen career path and is sure she will be a great success!

Loving Marilyn is thrilled to introduce Nancy!

This beautiful Marilyn girl actually had me in shock when I opened my emails - I could barely believe my eyes! The similarities between the photo of the young girl I was looking at and our Marilyn,  just blew me away! I truly believe that if she chooses a career as a Marilyn tribute artist, she will be extremely successful! So I think I'd better introduce her and let you see for yourselves!

Nancy is seventeen and is currently studying photography - she told Loving Marilyn...

'The reason I'm so attracted to Marilyn Monroe is because of what she managed to achieve as well as her inner strength, I like how she wasn't afraid to be vulnerable and how she was not only gorgeous but also intelligent. I find her childlike yet womanly demeanour enchanting. She's a constant inspiration to me as a person, I love how grounded she came across as which made her so charismatic, she seems very familiar to me. I first became interested in Marilyn Monroe at 14 after I read Debbie Harry say she was the reason she went platinum before I went it myself, though I have black hair now. I've always loved the pin-up look too - red lipstick especially, and Marilyn Monroe being a pin up also I suppose had a part in that!'

Without doubt this is one young lady with a huge amount of potential to become a successful professional Marilyn look-alike!

It's so rare to find someone that looks like a young Norma Jeane but also makes a seamless transition to a slightly older Marilyn

Blonde or dark the resemblance is uncanny!

I'm still in shock!!!

I would love to have feedback as to what you think - please feel free to email me shar@lovingmarilyn.com

Loving Marilyn is excited and happy to present  Roxanne (better known as Roxy to her friends and family) from a part of the world I'm very familiar with - Australia!

Roxy told Loving Marilyn...

"Though she was born generations before my time, her femininity, style and charisma are inspirational.

My friends and family often comment that I resemble Marilyn - to which comments I am completely flattered!!!

A very good friend of mine asked me to dress as Marilyn for a party she was having and before going to the party I took these photos of myself at home."

"Being a big fan of the 'pin up' era, when I first saw photos of Marilyn I loved her glamorous girlie pinup style with her wiggle skirts, red lipstick and her cheekiness. I loved the way she played up to her Hollywood image.

One day, I decided to learn more about Marilyn. The more I learnt about Marilyn the 'star' the more I learnt about Marilyn the person and I found myself intrigued by this beautiful woman.

Call it an obsession, but I am totally mesmerised by her life, her style, her choices, her mysteries. I am constantly reading about her.

I now find myself imitating Marilyn's style in subtle ways and somehow in a strange way it makes me feel closer to her.

I believe Marilyn was a strong woman, though vulnerable she had the courage to rise from a difficult beginning to life.

Marilyn is an inspiration and her memory has left a big impression on me. I wish I'd had the honour of knowing her in her short life."

Loving Marilyn is THRILLED to introduce Angela!

It is impossible to believe, when first seeing Angela, that she isn't a professional look-alike - it is without doubt, if she decided on a career change, she would be a thoroughly wonderful and much in demand 'Marilyn'!

Angela told Loving Marilyn:

All my life people have been telling me how much I resemble Marilyn Monroe. I am a huge fan. I live in California and I am 37 years old. I'm a veterinary technician and adore all animals. The first Marilyn Monroe film I saw as a teenager was "Bus Stop" and I could not get her image out of my mind for many years after that.

When I was in my early twenties a friend of mine recommended that I bleach my hair blonde, because he told me I was a raven haired Marilyn and to let her shine through by lightening my hair. After following his suggestion I could not believe the transformation. My hair has been blonde since.

Please meet ~ Sofia from Italy!

Sofia has been a Marilyn fan for about 4 years now. She loves all of Marilyn’s movies but her favourite are Niagara and The Seven Year Itch.

Loving everything about Marilyn, Sofia says she adores her style, her voice and the way she moves on screen and has often been told that she resembles Marilyn because of the way she wears her hair and the her makeup. Monroe has inspired Sofia so much that she decided to get a tattoo portrait of Marilyn, which was done at Studio Adrenaline in Tuscany.

Loving Marilyn is excited and proud to present the beautiful Colby!

My name is Colby and I'm from the USA.  I've been a Marilyn fan for probably about 9 years now, and collect books posters, and other merchandise.  I love all of her movies but I especially love the casual, cute Marilyn in films like Clash by Night and of course The Seven Year Itch.  Everywhere I go, especially at school, I'm known as "the Marilyn girl," with people often stopping me out in public to compliment my hair and sometimes even take pictures on their camera phones!  I'm always flattered---she is my style, body image, and beauty icon, but more importantly her life story, bravery, and drive to be the best she could be inspires me every day. I love the Marilyn fan community and have made so many good facebook friends!

Loving Marilyn is thrilled to welcome Caroline who you can see is clearly inspired by our beloved Marilyn’s style!

Caroline has always adored everything about the 1950’s especially the styles of the day and the romance of the era. She has a passion for the old Hollywood movies and especially the Marilyn’s movies!

Her favourite top five are:

  1. Some Like It Hot
  2. Gentleman Prefer Blondes
  3. Niagara
  4. How to Marry a Millionaire
  5. The Seven Year Itch.

Caroline says of Marilyn ‘When I first saw her she looked so beautiful and I could appreciate that beauty’ she says that whilst so much has been written about Marilyn ‘I guess I just accept her for who she was, a person with all her beauty, flaws, and talent, she was a great actress…’

‘Her style was so seductive, she had curves and was not afraid to show them off, something lacking these days. The figure hugging dresses, the red lipstick, the blonde curly hair and the wiggle when she walked, she screamed ‘ALL WOMAN’ and boy did we hear her roar!

Estrella from Bolivia is a Graphic Design student who first saw Marilyn singing Happy Birthday to JFK on television when she was just 5 years old. At that time Estrella wasn't able to understand the words Marilyn was singing as her own language was Spanish but Marilyn's image captured the imagination of the little girl, who has since grown into a beautiful young woman who likes to emulates Marilyn's look.

Whilst she regrets that she hasn't yet seen all of Marilyn's films, she has seen Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Niagara, Bus Stop, The Seven Year Itch, Some Like it Hot, How to Marry A Millionaire, The Misfits, There's No Business Like Show Business, River of No Return, The Prince and the Showgirl and the incomplete Something's Got to Give: Marilyn Monroe, The Final Days. Niagara just manages to take the number one spot for Estrella!
